The 560 km. long Hiking Tour of Flanders has a somewhat misleading name. GR 5A doesn't take you all around Flanders, but only around the provinces of West- and East-Flanders.
Today the name 'Flanders' officially refers to the part of Belgium that also includes the provinces of Vlaams-Brabant, Limburg and Antwerpen. However, in the old days the name 'Flanders' only covered the first two provinces. That's why even today many people living in the other flemish provinces still refer to them as 'the Flanders'. It's a bit strange because they're living in Flanders themselves. Sorry, but we admit that this is a complicated little country ...
